As expected August 28, 2010 bytes2doc (Lancaster) This is my first violin so I did not want to spend a lot. Previous reviews stated that the strings supplied would break when you tuned them, and sure enough they did, so not surprised. Once the strings were replaced I've had no problems since, and this violin has been working and playing great. If you're looking to see if you may like the violin, want to get the basics of playing and fingering, and do not want to disturb all those around you, this would be a good choice. The cons are the ear-phone supplied -there is a hiss, but then again, like the strings, I'm sure they're cheep. Saying that, I really do not use them at all as there is plenty of sound, just not enough to bother all those around you.
Absolutely fantastic violin. June 20, 2010 Deanna Corley (Ocala, Fl USA) This violin set me back roughly $90. I was expecting something that would sound decent that I could teach myself to play, but instead it's a fantastic violin with amazing tonality! I mean it doesn't have the perfect tonality of an acoustic, but it's wonderful for an electric. If you plug it into any amp it won't give feedback at all. It is also really easy to hold a note on the fingerboard. Also, the gig bag that came with it is fantastic! It is perfect for just taking it over to a friends house for a quick jam. The tuning pegs are kinda annoying to deal with because they tune up or down really sharply, but if you've played any instrument with tuning pegs before, you can tune it pretty easily even though there is only 1 fine tuner on the E. The bow is kinda cheap, but it still picks up reasonably well for a cheap one. The only thing that irked me was the rosin. It seems like it's been sitting in a warehouse for years, so you have to use sandpaper every time for a good enough use. But it's easy enough to get some better stuff. What I did, was just get used to the violin, then I ordered 3 fine tuners, a really nice new bow, and some rosin which added up to be $24.34. So all of it was roughly $115, which is still a fantastic price for this piece of equipment. I highly recommend this for anyone who is willing to actually TRY to learn the violin. It has worked wonders for me.
Very good Instrument June 5, 2010 Alfredo Rodriguez (Mexico) It works out of the box. It's really good for me that I want to practice anytime without bother my neighborhood.
My suggestion would be a little sheet saying where to plug in the headphones, I knew I was stupid but took me one day realized it I was about to return it =)

Cool design, fun for the money January 15, 2010 M. DEWIT (Kingsport TN) Slick and interesting design, fits nicely in your hands to play. I bought this for a young man who just wanted to try to play electric violin for fun. The strings broke immediately, and we bought tuners to go with it, separately. After changing these things, it's a honey. This being his first violin, I can't attest to the sound quality--maybe in a few months...?
Pretty Solid December 4, 2009 Dave C (California) This is a pretty solid Electric Violin. The plastic makes it light to hold, and that may be an issue for some as I like to feel the weight of an instrument to make it feel solid. The shoulder rest materials they give you are not worth installing, since they just fall off, and you would be better off to make your own, or buy one. Otherwise it sounds good and the headphone option is nice even though somehow this violin makes it's own reverberations without it, so you can also hear it without amplification or headphones, it just doesn't sound that good. Remember that if you have headphones on playing it next to someone.
