Product Description
This violin is ideal for the beginning musician. It features maple wood back and sides, pear wood fingerboard and four fine tuners. It also includes a genuine horse hair wood bow, rosin and a featherweight carrying case with strap and carrying handle. Accessory colors/style may vary. Here are some hints to help keep your violin in tune: 1. Although the violins come with a bridge, it is not installed. Installing a bridge should is not difficult, but if you have a problem, please email us. The bridge has to be installed for the violin to play correctly. 2. Strings do tend to slip and lose their tune on a new violin because they need to stretch. If this happens, just give it time. The strings just need time to settle in. 3. If the violin pegs keep slipping, try to push the peg in while turning it. If they still dont stay in, peg drops are available at most music stores. They are relatively inexpensive and should help the pegs stay in. 4. If a strand of hair breaks on the bow, take a pair of nail clippers and cut it from the frog (bottom of the bow) or the top of the bow. A few hairs are bound to fall out with play. Remember to rub a little rosin (included) on the bow before playing. This is a great violin to get started with. And at this price it is an unbeatable value.

3 out of 5 stars i dont know what to say   August 2, 2010

Great color violin, the image should be updated like the others said. But my main concern is of all thing my violin came on time but when i open the case there is no bridge on the inside, im disappointed cause i was looking forward to play. I have checked the case numerous times for it and its not there. Im partially unsatisfied cause now i have to buy a bridge seperate

3 out of 5 stars Good starter instrument   May 8, 2010

I just got this violin because I've wanted to learn how to play for years. I do have a lot of experience with playing piano, so I'm not a complete stranger to reading music and how a string instrument works. The quality of this instrument is okay, the sound is okay, and in fact, almost everything about the instrument is okay. The case is very nice. The downsides are: it came with only one page of instructions, the rosin was crumbly, and this is strictly a starter instrument.

If you have no experience with violins, like me, you are going to need more than one page of instructions about how to set up the bridge, etc. Luckily, after a quick search on the 'net I found all the info I needed and was ready to go. The rosin was so crumbly that it was very difficult to get enough on the bow so that playing was possible--you might want to order some extra to go along with it. I think this little violin will be just fine to start out with, but I know that if I really take to it I'm gonna want a little nicer one with better acoustics.

In summary, for a price of $59.95, this is certainly not a bad deal.

4 out of 5 stars Great prop!   April 19, 2010

I needed this beautiful crazy-blue violin as an educational tool for teaching about the science of music (and sound). The physics are all there and for the cost it seems to be working fine!

I know nothing about playing violin, but I'm assuming that this is mostly for use as a toy. The little pegs that hold the strings on can just pop out, so it likely wouldn't hold it's tuning. We are generally moving it gingerly so it doesn't break, but I think any violin, professional or toy should be handled with care.

When I first opened it, I had to work a long time to apply rosin to the bow before it would make any sound at all. I can thank youtube for the tutorial, because it didn't come with any sort of instructions.

Lastly, the little wood piece that holds the strings up away from the body of the violin seems a little flimsy. If I had to pick a piece that will break first, my money would be on that little thing.

Other then the chin rest and tuning pegs being a different colour this is a great violin. When i first got it, it did have a hard time staying in tune but after the bridge and strings had time to settle in it stays in tune great. It is also a much deeper blue then in the picture. i gave it four stars because of the colour change and that mine was scuffed up in random place but after i rubbed it with a rag it came right off. Overall i am very pleased.

Great beginners violin. Sturdy case. The fine tuners are low profile.I love mine. The included rosin block looks like a bar of hotel soap, so you'll need to get a larger one. The actual color is a deeper blue than the display picture.
