| Customer Reviews: Good quality, Too Small! July 22, 2010 Drew Rash It looks nice and when I hold it on it does get quieter than my rubber mute.
It's just too small and won't go down onto the bridge at all.
If you're going to buy it, make sure you have something to file it down with around the house.
Great all around. June 2, 2010 S. Knight 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered this after getting another plated brass mute that had awful fit and finish. This one is finished beautifully, the nickel plating is perfect, the fit is very nice, the edges are rounded nicely so that it won't mark your bridge. It mutes it down an incredible amount but preserves enough of the tone so that you can clearly hear mistakes of which I make plenty.
I highly recommend this one.
My wife rates it a must August 11, 2009 Jason Hartman (United States) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
When my wife and I moved into a smaller house the ability to practice the violin became severally hampered. She may be fond of the instrument, however the same song played four hundred times over and over again can get on just about anyones nerves. Things were getting bad enough that we were seriously considering purchasing an electric violin for practice just so she would not have to listen to everything I played. I had heard of mutes in the past but never considered them a viable option, seemed like their would be no way to mute a violin without interfering without significantly interfering with the tone. I was proven wrong and this little gym works wonders by reducing the vibration of the bridge and making it quite enough that now I only have to be in the next room, not the next house over.
This is a must have for anyone wishing to practice and not interested in letting everyone in the house listen to your pre-performance. Additionally, now that I know how this piece works I would recommend a person choose a heavy metal silencer over the rubber options when looking for extreme muting.
Strong mute February 21, 2009 Snappy Cat 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Heavy, really mutes down the violin/fiddle about 2/3rds. Good for practicing so as not to bother other folks.
